Parent Council

pppg

Dear LMU Parents,

We welcome you and your son or daughter to Loyola Marymount University on behalf of the Parents Council.

We joined the Parents Council shortly after our son Jackson moved in for his freshman year. Our early involvement with the university reinforced our excitement that he would continue the Jesuit educational approach he enjoyed in high school at Seattle Preparatory, and we were inspired to immediately become involved. Throughout his three years at LMU we have been pleased to observe continual growth, not only academically, but as a young adult who is sensitive to others and has the ability to positively impact his community. The wealth of diverse activities available at the University has enriched his experience.

Our daughter Johanna also recently entered LMU and we look forward to the process of her education and development as a giving and respectful individual.

We have been honored to become chairs of the Parent Council and to share our enthusiasm for the university and its activities with other parents.

Parents play an extremely important role at LMU through their support of and involvement in their student's education at LMU. Another way they can support the university and its mission is by giving to The Parents Fund. Your gift provides support to the university where its financial needs are the greatest. The Parents Fund provides unrestricted funds for academic programs, faculty recruitment and retention, campus improvements, classroom technology and equipment, and many other projects and services directly benefiting students. In short, these funds go beyond tuition payments to make LMU not only one of the finest universities in Los Angeles and California, but also in the entire country. Donors at the Presidential Associate level ($1,000 and above) also enjoy special courtesies that further their connection to LMU. We hope you will consider making a gift to The Parents Fund. It is an important investment in your child’s future.

Parents can also participate in advancing the mission of LMU by volunteering at various LMU events or becoming members of the Parent Council and Parent Ambassador program. We have enjoyed planning and participating in Family Weekend, freshman parent orientation, and regional parent events. It’s a great way to meet other parents, make new friends and keep abreast of what’s happening at LMU.

We encourage you to use the Parents site, www.lmu.edu/parents, to obtain current information and important dates. There are also convenient links to other areas of interest, including our new parent resource, "Parents Pride. "

Lastly, Marianna Villa ‘00, Director of Parent Programs and Parent Giving, is available to provide information on important parent events and volunteer opportunities, and to assist you in making a gift to The Parents Fund. We encourage you to contact the Office of Parent Programs (310.338.7037 or marianna.villa@lmu.edu) if you would like more information.

We wish your family a wonderful and enriching experience at Loyola Marymount University, and hope to meet you in the near future.

Sincerely,
Kevin & Trudi Knight's Signature
