Csilla V. Samay
Csilla V. Samay has been serving as Director of International Outreach for Loyola Marymount University since June of 2008, working to increase the university’s population of students from overseas and working with other departments and the university’s leadership towards internationalization of LMU’s campus. Samay has been active in the cross-cultural field throughout her experiences in international education, non-profit administration and the private business sector.
Samay earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities at Loyola Marymount University and holds an MA in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University in Boston, MA. She began her career in international education at Marymount College in Los Angeles, where she was Coordinator of International Admission, traveling extensively throughout the globe before relocating overseas to work as an Educational Advisor for the Fulbright Commission in Budapest, Hungary. Prior to joining LMU, she operated her own intercultural consulting business, assisting with executive relocation for multinational corporations and working with professionals from all over the world in the high-tech field, orienting them to U.S. business practices and culture. Samay came to LMU in 2006 to work on various grant projects focused on increasing diversity in study abroad, developing online resources to help students’ cross cultural adjustment, and providing resources for students looking to study in the United States.
Samay is fluent in Hungarian and speaks some German and Spanish. She is active in NAFSA: Association of International Educators, OACAC: Overseas Association of College Admission Counselors and serves on the Executive Board of Linden Educational Services.
