UPCOMING WORKSHOPS
"Happy Hour for Couples: The Transformative Power of Married Love" with Dr. Jim Finley
Saturday, May 12, 2012; 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
WORKSHOP IS FULL - NO FURTHER ENROLLMENT CAN BE ACCEPTED
Join us over wine tasting for a discussion lead by James on the challenges and rewards of married love. Five challenges to married love will be singled out and examined. We will then see how facing and working through these challenges becomes a transformative event that draws a couple into a deeper, more intimate union with each other. Finally, we will explore the contemplative, even mystical dimensions of this transformative power of love. We will see how a couple’s loving union with each other can become a profound experience of God’s loving presence in their lives.
"En Palabra y Obra: Transmitiendo la Fe a Nuestros Hijos" con José Antonio Medina, SThD
Sábado, Junio 16, 2012; 1:00 p.m. a 5:00 p.m.
"A Covenant for All Generations: Building an Intergenerational Church" with Jen Owens, MDiv
Saturday, June 23, 2012; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m.
How can parishes reach out to teenagers, as well as folks in their 20s and 30s? What might your parish look like if it were to embrace a paradigm that incorporates intergenerational ministries? The workshop provides an opportunity to think and pray together about in-person, print, and online outreach to teenagers and young adults involved in and on the edges of our Catholic communities, and includes lecture and discussion in addition to a time for creating hands-on plans for intergenerational ministries in one's own parish community.
"On Becoming the Word of God: A Morning of Theological Reflection" Featuring Dr. Jeffrey Siker and Dr. Michael Horan
Saturday, August 11, 2012; 9:00 a.m. to 12:30p.m.
Scripture tells us that we are created in the image and likeness of God. God’s creative work is present and active in the Now, in who we are and who we are becoming. The discovery of God within is simultaneously an invitation to be transformed into God’s love and a source of transformation in the world around us. Led by two of Loyola Marymount’s most prominent theology professors, this morning of theological reflection will focus on the invitation to become the Word of God in in the world around us and to participate in the creation of the Kingdom of God in the here and now. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS IN THE CENTER FOR RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY.
"A Imagen y Semejanza: Una Mañana de Reflexión Teológica" con Rev. Allan Deck, SJ y Jose Antonio Medina, SThD
Saturday, August 18, 2012; 9:00 a.m. to 12:30p.m.
