About the Center
The Center for Religion and Spirituality makes a vital contribution to the mission of Loyola Marymount University by expanding its religious and educational outreach to a wider range of constituencies in Southern California and beyond.
As part of LMU Extension, the Center embodies Loyola Marymount's commitment to serve the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, other local churches, religious groups, and the general public through the development of diverse programs related to religion and spirituality, faith and justice. In collaboration with the Department of Theological Studies and other departments and divisions of the University, the Center sponsors a variety of continuing education courses, certificate programs, lecture series, summer institutes and special events.
We offer a wide variety of certificate programs, courses and workshops, conferences and special events, all designed for the professional development, religious education, and/or personal enrichment of various groups of people: religious professionals and pastoral volunteers, clergy and laity, Catholics and other Christians, members of other world religions and anyone seeking religious understanding and/or spiritual growth. We also provide online courses and other non-traditional venues for religious education and spiritual development, thus linking the University and its mission to the greater Los Angeles region and beyond.
