Cultural Excursions

 

 
Four main excursions are included:  The first two are combined, as LMU students arrive first in Wellington,the capital, for a four-day stay before traveling along the south coast toward Mount Taranaki, stopping for a dinner cruise on the famous Wanganui River.

On the third excursion students will visit the internationally famous Bay of Islands, is a spectacular location that is deeply significant to the history of New Zealand.  Students take a sailing trip on the bay, and visit historically important sites such as Russell, the Treaty of Waitangi grounds -- a national monument -- and the Stone Store, the first European-built stone building in New Zealand. 

The last excursion is to Rotorua. Students will enjoy a spectacular Maori dinner experience, with music, dance and traditional foods.  Finally, we will have a last Sunday dinner together from the mountain-side restaurant of Sky City overlooking Rotorua and Lake Rotorua.  Students can purchase tickets to “luge” down the mountainside.
