Enrollment in one lower-division language course and one upper-division course is required for all students.
Italian is offered at all levels, depending on prior knowledge of the language. Most students enroll in EURO 181 (Beginning Italian 1) or EURO 182 (Beginning Italian 2).
Students are not permitted to take both upper-division courses but must choose one of the following options.

As the center of the Ancient Roman Empire, the home to the popes, the final resting site of pious martyrs, and a crossroads of cultural exchange, Rome has a unique history. By focusing on monuments in their social context, ARHS 498 will examine the ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque art and architecture of the “Eternal City.” Classroom lectures will provide overviews of the major historical developments of Rome to discuss the events ranging from the ancient to the modern period that have had an impact on the development of the city's urban landscape and artistic identity. The class will be taught primarily on location in Italian museums, churches, streets and palaces.

Engineering Economics and Decision Theory

This course deals with economic evaluation of engineering alternatives. Topics include: time value of money relationships, nominal and effective interest rates, present worth method, annual worth method, rate of return and incremental analysis, depreciation and income taxes, replacement analysis and benefit/cost analysis. Special emphasis will be placed in the engineering economics of the Roman Empire.
