Subjects of Study & Internships
A wide range of classes and internships are available for all majors. All class credits are granted through Loyola Marymount University and students receive grades. Generally, STET class taken through the Washington Center is in the student's major and the internship is for political science credit. Where appropriate, students have earned business or communication studies credit for internships or the course. Classes taken will depend on a student's major and interests.
The Washington Center assists students in obtaining internships that suit their interests, backgrounds, and goals. An internship is a valuable learning tool for college students. As an intern, you can evaluate your knowledge base, gain valuable work skills, network and develop mentor relationships and become confident that you are on the right academic and professional path. An internship gives you the opportunity to “test drive” a career and provides you an advantage when you enter the world of work. Typically, students work at their internship four days per week.
