 Mexico Fruit

Program Description

The program in Guadalajara will take place at the Jesuit university ITESO. This portion of the program will have a language immersion that will allow students to complete six units of Spanish language credit, at the beginning, intermediate or advanced level. In addition, the program will allow students to take other courses, up to 15 units of credit, in various disciplines, including a required course on U.S.-Latin America immigration issues, addressing the issue of promotion of justice central to LMU’s mission.

Location

Guadalajara is Mexico´s second largest city and offers world-class amenities without losing its provincial charm. Much of the emblematic folklore by which Mexico is known around the world comes from Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco. Guadalajara is an important business hub and center for technological development that has attracted a significant concentration of electronic firms, as well as hardware and software developers. Its vibrant cultural life includes outdoor concerts and other artistic activities, as well as such internationally known events as the International Book Fair--one of the most important of the Spanish-speaking world -- and the Guadalajara International Film Festival.

ITESO – the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente was founded in 1957 and is the only university in Jalisco to be recognized as an Institution of Academic Excellence, awarded by Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education. With a faculty of professionals and researchers that are leaders in their field, up-to-date curricula, and facilities designed to stimulate the development of students’ multiple dimensions, ITESO offers an excellent academic experience.
