One of the most vibrant cities in the world, Tokyo houses 26 cities with approximately 12 million residents. This modern metropolis is known for its fusion of fast paced action and Zen calm. Visiting students will quickly become immersed in the diverse and colorful Tokyo culture, meditating at ancient shrines and temples or catching a baseball game at the Korakuen Dome.

Sophia University

Since it’s foundation in 1913, Sophia University has been preparing generations of students to play an active role in Japanese society and in the world. More than fifty nationalities are represented in our student body of 11, 900 and the teaching staff of 1,100 is made up of scholars from 20 countries. The curriculum is designed so that students may receive a solid foundation in one particular specialization as well as broad general education. Sophia’s tradition of academic excellence has its roots in the Jesuit educational ideal of placing importance on each individual student. Sophia offers two programs with courses taught in English: the undergraduate program in liberal arts and summer session program. All other program courses are instructed in Japanese.
