Comparative Management Systems

The LMU MBA Program provides students with the opportunity to participate in an outstanding study of global business, Comparative Management Systems (CMS), that has been hosted in the College of Business Administration for 24 years. CMS requires a year of study and concludes with travel to several countries. CMS provides a focused opportunity for students to gain first-hand exposure to global management concepts and practices through meeting with business executives in each country. For those students who have selected an international track and have chosen courses from a variety of global business electives, CMS also leads to the Certificate in International Business.

Two semesters before the overseas visits, enrolled students form interest groups based on specific business issues. Each group is led by a faculty advisor. After two semesters of research and study, the students spend several weeks in a predefined region of the world. In May 2007, CMS students will travel to Asia, with company visits in Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Beijing, and Hong Kong.
