DANC 380: Music for Dance
Study of the elements of music theory and history which are common to dance and music.

DANC 381: To Dance is Human: Dance, Culture, and Society
A study of Dance as a cultural, political, and socioeconomic phenomenon. The dance of three selected cultures in the United States today with origins in Africa, Asia, and Europe and current life in the United States will form the focus of study.

DANC 460: Dance Theory and Criticism (or PHIL 352 Philosophy of Art)
Formal seminar in philosophy of art and aesthetic criticism.

DANC 461: Senior Thesis Project
Preparation and presentation of performance or research thesis.

DANC 480: Kinesiology for Dance I
Understanding of the human body as it experiences movement. Analysis of the physics, anatomy, physiology, and psychology of movement behavior.

DANC 481: Kinesiology for Dance II
Continuation of DANC 480.

DANC 484: Principles of Teaching Dance
Theory and practice of effective dance instruction, including methods, lesson plans, and practice teaching of high school students and adults.

In addition, taken for at least 4 semester hours and at the level of proficiency: Modern Dance and Ballet each semester for 0-2 semester hours, and one semester of World Dance taken for 0-2 semester hours.
