Academic Advising
Advising is essential to your academic planning and success at Loyola Marymount University. Your advisor, assigned through your college/school, can answer questions about your major, course selection, required classes, and can help you explore enriching opportunities outside of the classroom in pursuit of your degree.
University Advisors complement faculty advisors by focusing on your transition to LMU. Our goal is to help you find, understand, and utilize opportunities campus-wide for your academic success.
A typical meeting with a University Advisor can cover:
· Understanding the purpose and components of the Core curriculum.
· Accessing PROWL and the Bulletin for your registration purposes.
· Providing assistance as you explore possible majors and minors.
· Clarifying key academic policies and procedures.
· Tailoring our academic planning tools to your situation.
· Finding your assigned advisor, and being prepared for your future advising sessions.
We believe undergraduate students, especially transfer students and freshmen who are new to LMU, can benefit from our services. Please feel free to contact us at advising@lmu.edu.
