What is a web template?
A web template is a pre-established format for creating new web pages.

What does the template include?
The template includes the University logo, the header, the style of the navigation bar, the footer and the stylesheet.
Header - On a department-level design, the header includes everything above the "location trail." The location trail is the series of links that place your website in the overall LMU.edu hierarchy. Therefore, the header includes the logo, the grey tactical navigation bar at the very top, the blue universal navigation bar, the red title bar and the grey location trail.

Navigation Bar - The navigation bar includes the grey column on the left side. The navigation bar is automatically populated with items based on the parent-child web page relationships that you create. The navigation bar also includes the "e-mail" and "print" functions.

Footer - The footer includes the blue universal navigation bar along the bottom of the page as well as the copyright statement and university address.

Can I modify the fonts, colors and links in the aforementioned areas?
No. The entire concept of presenting a unified design to the public is to create consistency in these areas. Therefore, the colors, styles and text used in these areas are fixed in the template by a universal stylesheet to ensure a basic level of consistency in the display of web pages. The stylesheet is not available for customization.

What are the options for customization?
The body portion of the page, which is the majority of the entire page layout and design, is available for customization. Departments are encouraged to customize their web pages through the use of imagery, text and audio/video. In addition, there are other options: opting for a one, two or three column design; opting for a news/feature box; or modifying the navigation bar to include custom photography.
