Art Education Majors

Lower Division Curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts, Art Education majors

  • Art Education emphasis
  • Art Education emphasis with a State of California Secondary Teaching Credential
The College of Science and Engineering of curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts, Art Education or Art Education with a State of California Secondary Teaching Credential.  The lower division requirements are identical for both majors.

University Core Requirements
The Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts, Art Education emphasis follows a University Core curriculum that is specific to this major.  Students following this major curriculum should use this link to view their Core requirements.

Lower Division Major Requirements
Students are required to take 8 courses in Art and Art History as well as 1 foundation course in a specific studio arts focus area.

Students choose one of the following courses as the foundation for their Studio Arts focus:

Choose one course of the following 3 courses:

• ART 80: Elements of Photography + PHOT 31AB: Basic
  Photography - Black and White (both courses count as one)

Students interested in printmaking as their focus area fulfill this requirement at LMU.
