Biology Majors

Lower Division Major Requirements
The degrees in Biology require 30 semester hours of common coursework to both the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science.  The Bachelor of Arts requires additional electives in mathematics and science.  The Bachelor of Science requires additional coursework in chemistry, mathematics and physics as designated below.

BIOL 202: Genetics No course equivalency
CHEM 110: General Chemistry I
CHEM 111: General Chemistry I Laboratory
CHEM 112: General Chemistry II
CHEM 113: General Chemistry II Laboratory
Take the following 3 courses:
• CHEM 1A: General Chemistry
• CHEM 1B: General Chemistry
• CHEM 1C: General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis
CHEM 220: Organic Chemistry I
CHEM 221: Organic Chemistry I Laboratory
(Note: Organic Chemistry I laboratory is required for the Bachelor of Science degree only)
Take both courses:
• CHEM 12A: Organic Chemistry
• CHEM 12B: Organic Chemistry
MATH 122: Calculus for the Life Sciences I Take both courses:
• MATH 1A: Calculus
• MATH 1B: Calculus
