Application for Degree

General Requirements

A student who intends to graduate in a term must submit an application for degree.  In order to qualify for graduation honors, the application must be submitted by the specified deadline.  A student who misses the deadline must still submit an application.  Failure to apply renders a student ineligible for degree for that term.  

A student is responsible for ensuring that the CAPP report shows all degree requirements as being met; addressing outstanding degree requirements is the sole responsibility of the student.

A student who did not meet all degree requirements in the application term MUST submit a new application for a subsequent term in which ALL degree requirements have been met.

A student is held responsible for and complying with the University's degree requirements as stated in the Bulletin.  Failure to read and understand these regulations will not excuse a student from their observance.

Please be aware of the following:

  • A course with an Incomplete grade in the graduation term will cause the application to be cancelled.
  • Students who have declared a second major and/or minor(s) must complete these at the same time as the primary major of the degree.  An unfinished second major and/or minor(s) will cause the primary degree to be cancelled.
  • Students who are earning two degrees must complete an application for each degree.
  • An undergraduate student with NO more than 12 semester hours at the end of the Spring semester for completion of the degree may participate in the Commencement Ceremonies.  This student must also submit an application for the Spring term.

I understand that I am solely responsible for the submission of CAPP exception forms, missing transcripts, and all other missing requirements as reported by CAPP. I understand that my CAPP report must show that degree requirements are "MET" in order to qualify for the degree, and if CAPP reports "UNMET" that I am solely responsible to complete the degree requirements.
I understand that if I have outstanding requirements, including Incompletes, in the term for which I am applying, my application for degree will be voided. I understand that I must submit a new application for the term in which all requirements are met.

After the Application for Degree is submitted, the student's record will be reviewed for degree eligibility by an Academic Records Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar. Should there be an issue, students will be notified at their LMU lion e-mail account.

Students should check their unofficial transcript on PROWL in approximately 10 business days to verify the processing of the application; e-mail confirmation is not provided.
