Parking

General Information
It is suggested that degree candidates and their guests arrive on campus early, as heavy traffic is anticipated in and around the University. The Lincoln Boulevard entrance onto LMU Drive is the most accessible and convenient entrance to use; however, the Loyola Boulevard entrance will also be open. Parking is free on campus and approximately 1/2 mile from the ceremony.

Seating configuration for the Undergraduate Ceremony and for the Graduate ceremony.

Special Needs
Limited handicapped and special needs parking is available. Handicapped placards are required. A special needs drop-off area will be in operation until 1/2 hour before the ceremony begins (that is, until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, and until 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 6). If this service is required, early arrival is recommended. For directions to the special needs drop-off area, please ask the Public Safety officers at the campus entrances.

It is recommended that guests with special needs being dropped off on the east side of Sunken Garden enter campus via Loyola Blvd, whereas those being dropped off on the west side of Sunken Garden enter campus via LMU Drive and Lincoln Blvd.

Undergraduate Ceremony, Saturday
Students are not restricted as to the number of guests they may invite to Undergraduate Commencement on Saturday, May 5, 2012. However, due to parking limitations, additional parking has been arranged at Playa Vista, off of Campus Center Drive at the intersection of Jefferson and Centinela. The cost is $10 per vehicle, which includes shuttle service to and from campus.

Off-Campus Parking in Playa Vista (from 405 NB or SB)

  • Exit CA 90 west toward Marina del Rey
  • Exit Centinela Ave.
  • Turn left (south) on Centinela Ave.
  • Centinela Ave. changes name to Campus Center Dr. when it crosses Jefferson Blvd.
  • After crossing Jefferson Blvd., look for signs indicating LMU Commencement Parking

Shuttle service is available from University Hall and Playa Vista. There is limited wheelchair accommodation on these shuttles. Guests with concerns about walking may consider parking at Playa Vista since shuttles drop guests off close to the ceremony in Sunken Garden.

Please keep in mind that Undergraduate Commencement may draw as many as 17,000 attendees. Because seating and parking are not guaranteed, early arrival is strongly recommend, preferably by 8:30 a.m. (at least one hour before the ceremony). Also, keep in mind that the campus will be closed to incoming traffic at 11:30 a.m. or once the campus has reached full parking capacity—whichever comes first. Regular campus traffic patterns will resume at approximately 1:00 or after most Commencement traffic has departed.

Graduate Ceremony, Sunday
Parking is available on campus for the Sunday ceremony. It is suggested that guests arrive on campus no later than 9:00 a.m.
