Parking
General Information
It is suggested that degree candidates and their guests arrive on campus early, as heavy traffic is anticipated in and around the University. The Lincoln Boulevard entrance onto LMU Drive is the most accessible and convenient entrance to use; however, the Loyola Boulevard entrance will also be open. Parking is free on campus and approximately 1/2 mile from the ceremony.
Seating configuration for the Undergraduate Ceremony and for the Graduate ceremony.
Special Needs
Limited handicapped and special needs parking is available. Handicapped placards are required. A special needs drop-off area will be in operation until 1/2 hour before the ceremony begins (that is, until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, and until 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 12). If this service is required, early arrival is recommended.
ADA-compliant shuttles will accommodate wheelchairs and have a wheelchair lift. Guests with concerns about walking may be dropped off close to the ceremony in Sunken Garden. It is recommended that guests with special needs being dropped off on the east side of Sunken Garden enter campus via Loyola Blvd, whereas those being dropped off on the west side of Sunken Garden enter campus via LMU Drive and Lincoln Blvd. For directions to the special needs drop-off area, please ask the Public Safety officers at the campus entrances.
Undergraduate Ceremony, Saturday
Students are not restricted as to the number of guests they may invite to Undergraduate Commencement on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Consequently, Undergraduate Commencement may draw as many as 17,000 attendees. Because seating and parking are not guaranteed, early arrival is strongly recommend, preferably by 8:30 a.m. (at least one hour before the ceremony).
The campus will be closed to incoming traffic at 11:30 a.m. or once the campus has reached full parking capacity—whichever comes first. Guests who arrive after campus has closed will be directed to park at a designated area off campus; free shuttle service is provided between this lot and campus. Regular campus traffic patterns will resume at approximately 1:00 or after most Commencement traffic has departed.
Shuttle service from the off-campus location as well as from University Hall is ADA-compliant; they will accommodate wheelchairs and have a wheelchair lift. Guests with concerns about walking may be dropped off close to the ceremony in Sunken Garden.
Graduate Ceremony, Sunday
Parking is available on campus for the Sunday ceremony. It is suggested that guests arrive on campus no later than 9:00 a.m.
