LMU Seal

The university seal is a visual symbol that represents the university but it is not part of the logo system.

Created in 1973, the university seal helps tell the LMU story: Inside the shield, going clockwise from the top left, you can see the Society of Jesus crest, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary crest, a bear and star to represent California, and three angels to signify Los Angeles. The seal also includes the mottos of two of LMU's founding religious orders: the Jesuits and the Marymount sisters. For more on LMU's history, click here.

The LMU seal is used primarily for academic purposes and is not meant to be used in place of the LMU logo. To request a copy of this art file, call 310.338.7039 or email
