Office of Faculty Development
The Office of Faculty Development at Loyola Marymount University provides administrative support for programs, special events, and services that recognize faculty accomplishments, build community among faculty, and enhance the faculty’s capacity to become successful teacher-scholars. The menu on the left provides links to current programs, collaborations, and resources.
The Office of Faculty Development assists:
- new faculty members' successful transition to our University Community by providing a comprehensive introduction to the University and its mission as well as its resources and support services
- new faculty with support throughout their first year to enhance their teaching and deepen their understanding of the mission, and to help them develop successful scholarly or creative works programs;
- new faculty with information relevant to teaching, the University Community, and University governance to allow pre-tenured faculty to become better acquainted with the culture and the mission of the University;
- the development, coordination, and implementation of faculty mentoring processes and programs, including the new Mentoring Assistant Professors (MAP) as well as Mentoring for Mission (MfM) program;
The Office of Faculty Development administers or coordinates:
- programs to enliven the intellectual climate and create a scholarly sense of community among faculty;
- a program of professional development for department chairs;
