Companions in Mission
Companions in Mission is year-long program aims to develop a cadre of faculty, administrators, and other exempt staff who are (1) well grounded in the Ignatian heritage shared by the Jesuits, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange and (2) capable of communicating its meaning and adapting its implementation to future challenges in the life of the University.
Sponsored by the Mission and Ministry Office and offered at no charge, Companions in Mission launched in 2012 and is now finished recruiting its second cohort. The 2013-14 program will include an on-campus retreat (weekend half-day) in early September; three luncheon presentations during the fall on various aspects of Ignatian history, pedagogy, and spirituality; an off-campus weekend retreat in February; a service component in the spring; and a concluding luncheon - all designed to help participants grow in their understanding of LMU’s rich heritage and deepen their commitment to its mission as a Catholic and Jesuit-Marymount university.
Companions in Mission can serve as a follow-up experience for those who have made the Busy Persons Retreat or participated in the President’s Institute, Western Conversations, or similar programs. But Companions should prove especially attractive for those who have not yet had an opportunity to take part in other mission and identity programs.
We have 22 participants in the Companions in Mission Cohort 2 for 2013-14. We are no longer accepting applications.
