Dear Friends,
Loyola Marymount cherishes its role as Los Angeles’ Catholic university. To help facilitate discussion and encourage deeper understanding of our Catholic identity and the heritage of our three religious orders (the Jesuits, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange), the Office of Mission and Ministry was established in 2006.
Among other activities, the Office oversees LMU’s annual Mission Day and the recently launched Companions in Mission program. We work closely with the Faculty and Student Affairs Mission and Identity Committees in their various initiatives, and we collaborate with the Office of Intercultural Affairs in presenting workshops on recruiting and hiring for mission/diversity.
Campus Ministry and the Center for Ignatian Spirituality report to the Office of Mission and Ministry, as does the new Center for Reconciliation and Justice, established by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. Our aim is to serve all who might like to draw on the resources we can provide to get better acquainted with LMU’s distinctive character as a Catholic and Jesuit-Marymount university.
