Silent Retreat
December 18-22, 2009
Priority given to Seniors and Graduate Students.
The Silent Retreat provides students with a unique opportunity to
engage in 5-days of quiet reflection at the end of the Fall semester.
During the Fall semester, students begin a process of spiritual
direction with experienced staff members, culminating in five days of
silence, discernment and reflection. While each director works with
students in a unique and individual way according to his or her needs,
the retreat is inspired by Ignatian contemplation and the Spiritual
Exercises and students are introduced to and encouraged to use a
variety of prayer methods, such as the Awareness Examen, where
beneficial. This retreat helps students to develop and be aware of
skills for the spiritual life that can be used in everyday
circumstances. Students who participate in this retreat experience
progress in the discipline of communicating with God regularly. In
addition, students learn what it means to have a spiritual director and
the benefits of this relationship for the Christian life. The Silent
Retreat is a deep spiritual experience for any student who enters into
it with sincerity. The retreat is held at Serra Retreat Center,
a peaceful retreat site located in the mountains of Malibu.
