Belong. Inspired by the spirituality of Ignatius Loyola, our first priority in Campus Ministry is to create a welcoming environment where all members of the Loyola Marymount University community can feel at home. Much of our time is spent in a ministry of presence; what Saint Ignatius would call
cura personalis: the care of the whole person. By creating an environment of engaged hospitality we can listen and respond to the needs of our students and one another.
Believe. We support and companion students through transformative expressions of faith; working to enrich spiritual life on campus and in the surrounding community. Whether by singing in the choir at one of our campus-wide liturgical events or meeting in a residence hall in a small faith-sharing group, our students are encouraged to experience their faith in a diverse context where it can deepen and grow.
Become. Faith is a dynamic experience; a movement of spirit in our daily life. Answering the Ignatian call to become
contemplatives in action we provide programs, retreats and opportunities for worship and service that strive to empower our students with the skills of spiritual discernment and prayerful reflection. In sacramental preparation, on a weekend retreat or building a house in Tijuana, Mexico we accompany students as they develop a deeper sense of their personal vocation.
Campus Ministry promotes spiritual growth and faith formation on and off campus. We take the University mission to heart in all that we do; our programs are created to encourage learning, to care for the whole person, and to foster the service of faith and the promotion of justice. Rooted in the University’s Roman Catholic identity and the heritage of our sponsoring religious communities, Campus Ministry’s outreach embraces people of all faith traditions. In Campus Ministry you will find a welcoming environment where people can express their faith passionately and discern their vocation in community. Campus Ministry truly is a place to belong, to believe, and to become.
