OCTOBER BRINGS MUSIC AND THEATRE TO LOYOLA MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY

September 28, 2004 -- Loyola Marymount University welcomes the community for these upcoming events in October:

Oct. 2, 8 p.m.: An Evening of Eclectic Music by The Solaris Quartet
The Solaris Quartet will open the 2004-2005 season of the Guitar Concert and Masterclass Series with a concert on Saturday, October 2 at 8 p.m. in Murphy Recital Hall. The group is known for their performance of a wide array of music from Vivaldi to newly commissioned composers. For tickets, call the Central Ticket Agency at 310.338.7588. The Solaris Quartet also will teach a masterclass on Sunday, October 3 at 1 p.m. The class will feature individualized and group instruction. Oct. 7-9, 13-16, 8 p.m. and Oct. 16, 3 p.m.: Neil Simon?s Wild Comedy Rumors Brings Laughs to LMU
LMU?s Department of Theatre Arts kicks off the 2004-2005 season with Neil Simon?s comedy Rumors for multiple performances in October. The play opens on Thursday, October 7 at 8 p.m. in Strub Theatre, with additional performances on October 8, 9, and 13-16 at 8 p.m. A matinee will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available from the Central Ticket Agency at 310.338.7588. Oct. 9, 8 p.m.: Timothy Ehlen Explores 18th Century Piano Music
Pianist Timothy Ehlen will perform at Murphy Recital Hall on Saturday, October 9 at 8 p.m. as part of the Visiting Artist and Lecturer Series. Ehlen is known for solo and chamber performances across the U.S. and Europe, including at New York?s Carnegie Hall. Currently, he is an assistant professor of piano at the University of Illinois School of Music. The performance is open to the public free of charge. Timothy Ehlen also will teach a masterclass at Murphy Recital Hall on Sunday, October 10 at 1 p.m. Students will benefit from Ehlen?s energetic teaching style and individual instruction.
