LMU EXTENSION OFFERS CLASSES, WORKSHOPS AND SPECIAL
PROGRAMS

– LMU Extension announces the following classes, workshops
and special programs starting in April and offered at
the Loyola Marymount University Westchester
Campus:
April 1:
Learn German language and culture
Open to those with previous German
language experience German IV begins Thursday, April 1, 7:15 p.m.,
at Loyola Marymount University. Under the tutelage of
native German speaker, Michaela Mauder, MA, students will
expand their knowledge of grammar, practice speaking German and
explore Germany culture. For additional information, call

is only $155 for the six-week course.
April 2:
Holy Week weekend retreat in Malibu sponsored by Loyola Marymount
University
The Center for Religion and
Spirituality at LMU is sponsoring a weekend retreat in Malibu
at the Serra Retreat House, Friday, April 2 through Sunday, April
4. The focus of this retreat will be on the Gospel of John and
includes biblical meditations, prayer and music. Overnight
accommodations are available. Cost is $240 for double
accommodations and $300 for single accommodations (depending on
space availability). Cost for commuters is $180. Six meals are

p.m.: Buddhism course begins at LMU
Buddhism and the Yoga Sutras will be
held Tuesdays, April 13 – May 4, from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. at
Loyola Marymount University in University Hall. This class will
investigate the Buddhist elements of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
It is open to all and cost is $150. To register, or for additional

April 14: 7:15
p.m.: World Religions series 'What is Islam?' class
begins
Dr. Mehnaz Afridi, Visiting Professor
at Loyola Marymount University Dept. of Theological Studies, will
teach this course Wednesdays, April 14 – May 5 in St. Roberts
361. The class will introduce students to Islamic history, beliefs
and practices from its beginnings through the present. For more

April 16, 4:30
– 7:30 p.m.: Health Education in the
Schools
Taught by Stephen Brown, Ph.D.,
in University Hall Room 1230, Fridays, April 16 – May
7, this course explores the nature and scope of health education,
nutritionally balanced diets, tobacco, alcohol, narcotics, designer
drugs and HIV/AIDS. This course meets California State requirements
for the Preliminary 2042 Multiple and Single subject credentials
and the Professional CLAD/BCLAD credentials. Tuition is
$300
April 21, 7:15
– 9:45 p.m.: Bhagavad Gita Class Starts at Loyola
Marymount University
Taught by Dr. Christopher Chapple, this
class investigates the primary features of Yoga practice. The class
meets Wednesdays, April 21 – May 12 in St. Robert’s 367

April 24, 9:30
a.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Healing Relationships Through the
Twelve Steps
This one-day workshop will be held
Saturday, April 24 at Loyola Marymount University in St. Roberts
361. Presented by Herb Kaighan, the workshop will focus on
how to do a thorough personal inventory, what to do with it, and
how to mend relationships/repair harm done to people in our lives
(Steps Four through Nine). The workshop is open to all; tuition is

April 26 - 28:
Cultural Orientation Program for International Ministers
(COPIM)
COPIM is a series of three, 3-day
workshops designed to support the ministry of priests and religious
sisters and brothers whose native culture is not that of the United
