LMU EXTENSION ANNOUNCES JULY CLASSES
June 22, 2004 - LMU Extension
announces the following summer classes beginning in July at the
Loyola Marymount University Westchester campus:
July 3:
Special Workshop -- "A Spirituality for the Two Halves of
Life"
Led by Fr. Richard, Rohr, OFM, this one-day workshop will be held
Saturday, July 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Loyola Marymount
University. Fr. Rohr, the founding director of the Center for
Action and Contemplation, is a well-known speaker, author, and
spiritual master. The workshop will focus on the two major
movements in the spiritual journey: the path of ascent and the path

July 6 - 9:
Ethics Week focus courses begin July 6
"Four Fabulous Encyclicals" with Thomas Shannon, PhD, is being
offered during Ethics Week, July 6 - 9, at Loyola Marymount
University. Participants will study four of the most important
recent documents expressing the social teachings of the Catholic
Church: John XXIII's Pacem in Terris, Vatican II's Gaudium et Spes,
Paul IV's Progressio Populorum and John Paul II's Centesimus Annus.
The class may be taken for graduate credit at $664, or for personal

Spirituality Week Courses offered beginning July 12
Spirituality Week at Loyola Marymount University begins July 12.
Courses are: "Christian Meditation" with James Finley, PhD, Tuesday
- Friday, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.; "Spirituality for the Long Haul" with
Wilkie Au, PhD, Monday - Thursday, 1 - 4 p.m., and; "Teresa of
Avila: Cartographer of the Soul" with Beverly Lanzetta, PhD, Monday

July 23 - 25:
Vedic Chanting
Taught by Sonia Nelson of the Vedic Chant Center, this workshop
will be conducted at Loyola Marymount University, Friday, July 23,
7 - 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 24, noon - 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday,
July 25, noon - 3:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to
explore the art of listening and chanting in Sanskrit. To register,
