February 27, 2004 -- National Public Radio personality Kitty Felde, host of KPCC 89.3 FM's "Talk of the City," will visit Loyola Marymount University on March 10 to host a discussion on "California After the Primary - What's Next for the Presidential Election?" The event is part of the ongoing LMU/KPCC Broadcast Journalist Series.

Felde will join a panel also featuring LMU's Fernando Guerra, director of the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles, and Matthew Streb, LMU assistant professor of Political Science, to discuss the key issues surrounding the upcoming presidential election as they relate to California. The program will start at 7 p.m. in Ahmanson Auditorium in University Hall.

Felde has worked as a journalist at several public radio stations in Los Angeles. She has won eleven Golden Mikes, six State Bar Golden Medallions, two ABA Silver Gavels, and seven AP awards. Her courthouse reporting led her to The Hague and Africa, where she covered the war crimes tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda. Larry Mantle invited her to join him at KPCC, where she has won several additional awards, including "Radio Journalist of the Year" from the LA Press Club (two years in a row) and the Society of Professional Journalists. Felde previously visited LMU in April 2003 serving as host for a faculty panel discussion on media coverage during war.
The LMU/KPCC partnership began in January 2003 and included the broadcast of 15-second informational messages about LMU on the station's national and local news and interview programs.
