OFFERS EXCLUSIVE
EXECUTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
FOR THE KOREAN
ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
Hollywood Reporter's Robert Dowling To Serve As Keynote Speaker;
Program Also Includes Top Execs From DreamWorks, Wild Tangent,
Tokyopop, NBC, Sony, Warner Bros., Klasky Csupo, And
Others
July 22, 2004 - The Center for Asian
Business at Loyola Marymount University is offering a customized
three-week executive education program from July 26 - August 13,
for 35 executives and managers from the Korean entertainment
industry.
The 35 Korean participants include managers and directors from
animation, game, character, and music companies, and from the major
Korean studios and broadcasting organizations. Sponsored by the
Korean Culture and Contents Agency (KOCCA), a division of the
Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the group also includes five
government administrators involved with the industry in Korea.
Robert Dowling, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of The Hollywood
Reporter, will be the keynote speaker at an opening luncheon for
the program held at LMU on Monday, July 26.
The program also will include as speakers top industry executives
from some of the best companies in entertainment, such as Frank
Gladstone from DreamWorks, David Madden and Dominique McAree from
Wild Tangent, John Parker, CEO and president of TOKYOPOP, Jim
Powell, VP at NBC, Al Ovadia, Executive VP for Sony Picture
Consumer Products, Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of
International Theatrical Distribution at Warner Brothers, Inc., Roy
Slater from the Salter Group, Richard Yannich, VP for International
Operations at Paramount Pictures, Norton Virgien, Producer, and
Patrick Stapleton of Klasky Csupo Studios.
LMU business and entertainment faculty will teach in the program,
including Dr. Dolphy Abraham and Dr. David Choi from the College of
Business, and Professor Tom Klein and Dr. Roy Eric Xavier,
Associate Dean, from the School of Film and Television.
Special visits for the participants have been arranged to five
studios: NBC, Savage Entertainment, Warner Bros., TOKYOPOP, and
Rhythm & Hues. The program also includes a social mixer with
local entertainment executives and professionals, and a half-day
attendance at the SIGGRAPH 2004 Exhibition.
The program was designed and is directed by Theresa Shim, the
associate director of the Center for Asian Business. This is the
fourth program LMU has conducted for KOCCA during the past two
years.
