ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT ART EXHIBITION OPENS AT LMU'S LABAND ART
GALLERY
April 16, 2004 - The Annual Juried
Student Art Exhibition opens at Loyola Marymount University's
Laband Art Gallery on April 29, and will run through Commencement
Day, May 8. The reception for the exhibition will take place from
5:30 to 7 pm, Thursday, April 29, in the George V. Dunning
courtyard, near the Laband entrance. The university community and
general public are invited, and the event is free of charge.
Refreshments will be served.
Student artwork in all mediums including ceramic, photography,
design, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, painting, jewelry,
computer graphics and interactive computer media will be on
exhibit.
Jurors for the 2004 exhibition are Noel Korten, director of the
Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Art Park, Los Angeles, and
Christian Mounger, A Los Angeles artist and instructor at the Otis
College of Art and Design, Westchester. Cash prizes will be awarded
by the jurors, and include prizes from the Metal Arts Society of
Southern California Award for outstanding achievement in jewelry
and the Grace Swanson Award for painting, selected by Ms. Swanson.
The Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition is sponsored by Andrea
Kingaard Friedman (Marymount College '66) and Albert Friedman.
The gallery will have special weekday hours for this exhibition:
April 29, 5:30 - 7 pm; thereafter, hours will be from 11 am to 3
pm, Tuesday - Friday. Saturday hours (May 1 and 8) are 12:30 - 3:30
pm.
