Community Relations

Neighborhood friends

Founded in the Fall of 1989, the Community Relations Task Force serves as the liaison between Loyola Marymount University students and the surrounding Westchester community. As a campus located in a residential area, LMU strives to be an active and courteous neighbor. CRTF seeks to create opportunities for LMU students to become involved in Westchester life through a variety of activities. Through involving LMU students with the Westchester community, CRTF facilitates positive communication between both entities.

Eight student appointees serve as liaisons to the Westchester/LAX Chamber of Commerce. These positions cover the following areas: Trade and Tourism; Membership and Networking; Airport Relations; Beautification; Business Development; Education; Governmental Affairs; and Harbor.

CRTF is a student run operation and is overseen by the Center for Service and Action. The student director of CRTF meets regularly with the Director of CSA. In addition to meeting with other campus officials, the student director attends various neighborhood meetings. The student director is responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing all CRTF activities.

In the past, CRTF has hosted the Chamber of Commerce to a mixer on campus, organized a lecture series with th Westchester Senior Center, hosted a Senior Holiday Tea, and published a bi-yearly newsletter, LMU Your Neighbor.
