Marians

Marians Group

WHO WERE ARE

Marians are a group of friends dedicated to the betterment of women and children in society. The Marians are the first all women service organization added since Loyola and Marymount Universities merged in 1973.

THE MARYMOUNT INSTITUTE

Where we are based out of and are constantly volunteering at their various events.  The Marymount Institute was formed to preserve the educational tradition of the congregation of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), which is involved in the perseverance of the fine, performing, literary and communication arts.

WHERE WE VOLUNTEER
  • Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: In September, all members will be volunteering at this weekend event.  In addition to this, there will be other volunteering opportunities such as the Race for the Cure, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
  • Go Red for Women: This organization promotes heart disease, the number one killer of women, awareness.  We will be participating in many of the events that they will hold throughout the year.
  • St Joseph's Center: Focusing on the care and shelter of homeless women and their families, we will be participating in many of their volunteer opportunities including child tutoring on a weekly basis and any special events they have.
  • Midnight Mission: Offering service to homeless families, we will volunteer with the children for tutoring, and special events and activities.
  • Good Shepherd Shelter: A battered women's shelter for women and their children.  A select amount of our group will be volunteering here on weekly basis and for special activities.
