Healthy Living Learning Community

The Healthy Living Learning Community, located on the first floor of Del Rey North, is a program designed for first-year students who prefer a wellness-focused lifestyle. Students in the HLLC program are enrolled in two linked courses team taught by a faculty member from the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts and two Student Affairs staff members. The linked courses, residential living component, and other co-curricular experiences provided for the students in the program are designed to create a fully integrated living learning experience.  In addition, the HLLC shares a commitment to a lifestyle free from the presence and influence of alcohol, tobacco and drugs while emphasizing the importance of emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, financial, and social wellness.

Students in the Healthy Living Learning Community identify themselves as individuals who are eager to engage in balanced living and desire an overall lifestyle that promotes healthy choices. HLLC students will reap the rewards of individualized, small-group experiences that will benefit their overall wellness both in and out of the classroom. The HLLC support system includes Resident Advisors, a Faculty in Residence, a Resident Director, and a Resident Minister who all live in the building to foster and encourage the creation of a wellness focused community. Living in the HLLC means living with people who share similar interests about wellness and who are dedicated to being substance-free!

One of the most important criteria for living in the Healthy Living Learning Community requires residents of the HLLC and their guests to not use or possess alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs and agree not to return to the area under the influence of these substances. Residents found in violation of these substance-free policies will face disciplinary action and may be removed from the Healthy Living Learning Community.
