University Honors Program
The University Honors Program creates and supports an academic environment of intellectual adventure and provides a carefully integrated and demanding curriculum.  It fosters a community of scholars dedicated to intellectual inquiry, who value and want to be challenged by an exceptional education. Honors education is not about what you learn; it's about the joy of seeing things in new ways.

The program offers interdisciplinary seminars from the first semester. Classes are smaller. Interaction with faculty is enhanced. Projects are more exciting, more intensive and demanding. More is expected of students its students; not everyone is qualified to join. On average, 30-40 students from each entering freshmen class of 1200+ students are accepted. The most successful applicants have:
  • a sense of academic adventure
  • motivation for interdisciplinary studies
  • rigorous educational experience and talent
  • social awareness and personal responsibility
  • interesting and diverse personal background
  • a first-rate GPA (4.0 scale)
  • highly competitive test scores (SAT/ACT)
  • enthusiastic letters of recommendation
Once admitted, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete:
  • a foreign language proficiency requirement
  • the Honors Program Core Curriculum
  • an Honors Senior Thesis

Successful completion of the University Honors Program is announced at the annual commencement ceremonies and noted on the student’s permanent transcript. This recognition is of lasting personal, professional, and academic value.
