This is a list created by students that will hopefully make this move easier by helping you identify those things you need, those you can leave at home, or those you can get when you go back to visit!

List of Essential Items Freshmen Should Bring

  • Bedding and Pillows
    • Mattress Topper
  • Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Shower Sandals and Shower Caddy
  • Bathrobe
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Computer
    • Headphones
    • USB (Very Important!)
  • Power Strip with Surge Protector
  • Flashlight
  • Odor Removers (Such as Febreze)
  • Alarm Clock
  • Fridge/Microfridge
    • Frozen Foods
    • Drinks
  • Something to remind you of home
    • Posters/Pictures (only non-marring adhesives may be used)
  • Hangers
  • Clothes
    • Gym Clothes
    • Plenty of socks and underwear
    • At least 1 set of formal clothes
    • Pajamas
    • Don't bring all the clothes you have at home! Only the ones that you need and will actually wear.
  • Hamper
    • Laundry Detergent and Dryer Sheets
  • Passport, Social Security Card, Driver's License, Birth Certificate, ID

  • Cooking appliances (Electric frying pan, toaster, steamer, electric grill, portable stove, rice-cooker unless you live an apartment or suite!)
  • Cut or live trees
  • Weapons or explosives
  • Dartboards
  • Decoration items that need to be nailed to the wall
  • Amplified instruments
