Subject: PeaceJam Volunteers
Date: September 2, 2008
In the near future, you will have students approach you who are volunteering as guides and mentors for younger students involved in the PeaceJam Conference on September 11-13. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to participate in a program developed by Nobel Peace Laureates. Seven of the Nobel Laureates will be on our campus to give talks and work with young people on the most pressing issues of our time. Our volunteer students may have to miss a class meeting or two during this time to fulfill their responsibilities as mentors. Please allow these students to work with you to find a way to make up information they will miss while performing their duties for PeaceJam.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping LMU host this very important event. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact my office.
You can get involved personally by hosting international students in your home, offering a workshop on Thursday, September 11th, or volunteering during the conference. This will guarantee you a ticket to the “Campus Talk” with all seven Laureates on Friday, September 12th at 6:30 pm in Gersten Pavilion. You can also enter the lottery to win a ticket to this event. Go to http://www.lmu.edu/Page43881.aspx to get involved.
Peace be with you.
