What is LINK+?
LINK+ is an alternative service to conventional interlibrary loans. LMU students, faculty, and staff are able to obtain books not available in the Von der Ahe Library from participating LINK+ libraries. “Not available” means that the LMU library doesn’t have the book in its collection; it is lost, missing, in repair; or checked out.
When you access the LINK+ catalog in search of a book, LINK+ is actually exploring the stacks of over 40 other California and Nevada libraries totally 19 million books for its availability.
At this time, media items, journals, and software do not circulate through LINK+.
Why should I use LINK+?
One of the conveniences of LINK+ over customary interlibrary loan is that it is generally quicker. Delivery is usually as fast as 3-4 business days.
However, an even greater benefit of LINK+ over interlibrary loan is that it is easy to use. You can place your requests in LINK+ directly and not through our ILL Office. There are no stops at the reference desk to fill out forms and the user can easily monitor a request’s status by looking at his/her own patron record in LINUS, the library’s online catalog.
How does LINK+ work?
Search for the item you need in LINUS.
If LMU doesn’t have an available copy, click the LINK+ button in the right hand column. Your search will be repeated in the LINK+ catalog. When your item appears, click request this item. Select Loyola Marymount from the drop down menu and click submit above information. Fill in your name and library barcode from the back of your OneCard and click Submit above information.
The system will access your patron information from LINUS. If you patron record is in good standing, LINK+ will complete the request.
How will I know my book has arrived?
Monitor the status of you requests by checking your own patron record. Click HERE to view your LINUS patron record. See what you have borrowed and have on hold.
You will also receive a pick-up notice via campus mail or email when your book arrives. You may sign up for email notification HERE.
