Resources for Teaching + Research
The following are commonly used faculty resources and those most helpful to new faculty members. For a more comprehensive list of resources as well faculty forms and publications, please visit the main Faculty Resources page.
For Teaching:
- Blackboard - the tool in which students and instructors create an environment for online teaching, learning, and collaboration.
- Center for Teaching Excellence - where faculty can participate in professional dialogue regarding their teaching methods and experiences.
- Classroom Management Office (CMO) - supports the technical equipment in LMU classrooms. Contact the CMO to report an issue, reserve equipment or request training.
- Computer Labs - available in St. Robert's Hall and the Library. Specialized teaching and student labs are scheduled by individual colleges and departments. Check with your Department Chair or call Information Technology at 310-338-7777 and speak to the Manager of Labs the specialized labs.
- Course Checklist - key items and details to have in order for each course prior to your first day in the classroom.
- iTunes U - add podcasts of your lectures to iTunesU or download other lectures.
- Instructional Technology Analysts (ITAs) - a faculty member's direct support and training resource for classroom technology. Get help with podcasting, using Blackboard, etc.
- Learning Resource Center (LRC) - encourage your students to visit the LRC for free tutoring services and workshops.
- Library -- Services for Faculty - find materials and services for your teaching and research needs.
- LionShare - an LMU-provided secure place for file storage, sharing and collaboration on the Web. It is accessible via ManeGate.
- PROWL - the Personal Records Online Web Link provides faculty and students with secure web-based access to class registration, grades, and other information maintained by the Office of the Registrar. PROWL may also be accessed via ManeGate.
