Open to those who already hold a California teaching credential, the California Reading Specialist credential provides educators with the specialized skills they need to better understand not only literacy and reading issues, but also the instructional aspects related to literacy. Program graduates will be prepared to take on leadership roles in materials selection, literacy program development, and professional and staff development at the school, district, and county levels.
Candidates who already hold either an MA in Child and Adolescent Literacy or a Reading Certificate can apply their previous coursework to this program's course requirements.
