Catholic Archdiocesan School Teachers (CAST)

The LMU/LA Catholic Archdiocesan School Teachers (CAST) program is a two-year cohort program offered in partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  Open to candidates who are currently working as full-time educators in Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, CAST candidates earn both a Master's degree in Elementary or Secondary Education, as well as a California SB 2042 Preliminary Multiple Subjects or Single Subject credential.  CAST places a premium on technology, and utilizes a hybrid methodology that combines online classes with face-to-face Saturday meetings.

CAST participants are eligible for substantial financial aid.

The ideal CAST candidate embodies the following qualities:

  • Committed to Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
  • Willing to use technology for teaching and learning
  • Able to commit to the program schedule

The successful applicant must also meet minimum requirements set by the School of Education.

CAST cohorts are admitted in the Fall and Spring semesters.  For those interested in applying to the program, the first step in the process is to attend a mandatory information session.  These sessions are held in September, and again in March.  For more information on dates, or to RSVP for one of these mandatory meetings, email Eric Young at soeinfo@lmu.edu.  Be certain that your email includes:

1. Your full name
2. Your phone number
3. The name of the school you work at
