The winner of the Von der Ahe Library's 2007 Undergraduate
Research Award contest with a first prize of $750 is Marc Rickenbach, a
senior majoring in history and French.
The two honorable
mentions of $250 each go to Kara Girod, a junior in dance, and Mark
Nieto, a junior in recording arts. In addition, a prize of $100 has
been awarded to Fifi Young, studio arts major, for best entry by a
first year student.

Paper - "Jean-Paul Sartre: Existentialism and Literature through World
War II", Nominated by Professor John Grever.
Honorable Mention: Kara Girod Research Paper - "Mexican Revolution (Round II)", Nominated by Professor Jeffrey Wilson.

Natural Water in Los Angeles", Nominated by Professor Diane Meyer. Best First Year Entry: Fifi Young Research Paper - "College Writing: My Name Is", Nominated by Professor Ann Stenglein.
Each
entry included the research project or paper, an essay explaining how
the student researched information and used the library, a
bibliography, and a letter of nomination from the faculty member who
had assigned the paper or project. The Awards Committee included
Professor Philippa Drennan, Biology professor and chair of the Library
Advisory Committee; Glenn Johnson-Grau, Collection Development
Librarian; and Pamela Clarke, Cataloging Librarian.
