Dear LMU Community,
Each year the Office of Black Student Services has the privilege of hosting and celebrating Black History Month with the LMU community. In response to our current historical presidential election, we have chosen to commemorate February 2009 to “Change”. To that end, our theme for the upcoming Black History Month is, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” This quote by Senator Barack Obama hits home for all of us here at LMU as we seek to make positive change academically and developmentally as we educate the whole person and encourage learning from one another.
In celebration of such an exciting time and purpose, OBSS invites you to submit a program proposal for Black History Month 2009. You will need to complete the on-line application form at http://www.lmu.edu/Page49257.aspx. All proposed events must relate to the theme. The deadline to submit your 2009 Black History Month on-line event proposal form is Friday, November 14, by 5:00 pm.
We look forward to a mind and body changing experience for Black History Month 2009!
Dr. Gail Buck, Director
