And the 2008 Winners Are...
The winner of the Von der Ahe Library's 2008 Undergraduate Research Award contest with a first prize of $750 is Andrea Ryken, a senior majoring in History and English. The two honorable mentions of $250 each go to Stephen Blair, a freshman majoring in Classics, and Joseph Spaniol, a sophomore majoring in Biology.

Each entry included the research project or paper, an essay explaining how the student researched information and used the library, a bibliography, and a letter of nomination from the faculty member who had assigned the paper or project.
The Awards Committee – Dr. Philippa Drennan, Biology professor and chair of the Library Advisory Committee; Dr. Kirstin Noreen, Art History professor; Glenn Johnson-Grau, Collection Development Librarian; Jamie Hazlitt, Reference Librarian; and Pamela Clarke, Cataloging Librarian and chair of the Undergraduate Research Awards Committee – chose these entries because they demonstrate advanced information literacy practices, use of multiple collections and services in the library, and clear evidence of significant learning.
Dean Kristine Brancolini will present the awards at a ceremony and reception on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 4:00 in the Von der Ahe Library atrium.
Reception: 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
