Deepest sympathy to the Crahan and Dockweiler Families
A sincere friend of Loyola Marymount University and the Von der Ahe Library, Marcus Crahan, Jr., passed away recently in Santa Barbara, California. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Crahan was a fourth generation resident of Los Angeles and had close ties to LMU. His grandfather, Isidore B. Dockweiler (1867-1947), was the first A.B. graduate of what would become LMU. Before his retirement, Marcus Crahan was managing partner of the law firm of Crahan, Scott, Javelera & Ver Halen, arguing cases, among other courts, before the United States Supreme Court. A trademark characteristic of the Dockweiler and Crahan families, Marcus was active in philanthropy, heading the Julia Dockweiler Stearns Foundation, the Dockweiler family charitable foundation, among his many, many philanthropic activities. The family’s philanthropic generosity benefitted LMU, including the Von der Ahe Library, which is the proud custodian of the Dockweiler Family Papers. The Library and its staff extend its most sincere sympathies to his family.
