LACES Names Professor Reichenberger Distinguished Educator


ReichenbergerJoseph Reichenberger, professor of civil engineering, was the recipient of the Los Angeles Council of Engineers & Scientists' (LACES) Distinguished Engineering Educator Award at an honors and awards banquet on Friday, Feb. 22. The event was held at the Exposition Park Intergenerational Community Center in Los Angeles.

“I am extremely honored to be thought of in this light by students and colleagues,” Reichenberger said. “It’s very rewarding to see my students become successful in their careers or move on to graduate school.”

Reichenberger has more than 35 years of professional engineering experience in private practice. Prior to joining the faculty at LMU, he served as vice president and regional manager for Parsons Engineering Science, Inc. in Pasadena. Reichenberger is a member of many civil engineering professional organizations and engineering honor societies. He has written and presented a number of professional papers.

 Reichenberger also serves as a Director of the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and formerly was a Commissioner on the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, an agency created by the State Legislature to implement cleanup of the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin.
