Merrifield Scholarship Recipient 2007-08
Magalí Del Bueno Riancho earned a $10,000 Merrifield Scholarship to assist her with education expenses. The future teacher sees her vocation as an opportunity to continue to be a ‘woman for others.’
In April 2007, the Mexican American Alumni Association (MAAA) announced that Magalí Del Bueno Riancho ’08 was the winner of the Donald P. Merrifield, S.J. Award, a $10,000 scholarship.
Del Bueno Riancho, who majors in Spanish and is pursuing a teaching credential, is a member of several honors societies and has been deeply involved in community and campus activities. Throughout her life, she has felt a vocation to teach. “For me, becoming a teacher is a way I will continue to be a woman for others,” she wrote in her scholarship application.
Del Bueno Riancho received the award at the Annual MAAA Awards Dinner on Tuesday, November 6. Through the generous support of alumni and friends MAAA gives more than $300,000 in scholarships to students with financial needs every year.
