How to Apply-Summer 2008

Eligibility
  • Summer financial aid is available to LMU students who are currently enrolled in a degree or credential seeking program.  
  • Students must be making satisfactory academic progress.    Summer coursework is reviewed when determining whether students are making Satisfactory Academic Progress for continued eligibility for financial aid.
  • Summer financial aid is not available for continuing education or extension coursework.
  • Summer financial aid is not available for classes that will be taken at another U.S. university or college.
  • Students may apply for summer financial for LMU sponsored study abroad programs.
  • Students may apply for summer financial aid for a non-LMU study abroad program if the student has received approval from their Dean’s office to transfer units from that program to their LMU academic record.   A consortium agreement must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office.

How to Apply
Step 1:
  Submit the 2007-2008 Summer Financial Aid Application

  • ALL students must complete this application to be considered for summer loans or to receive a summer work award.
  • Mail, fax, or deliver the 2007-2008 Summer Financial Aid Application to the Financial Aid Office by May 12, 2008.

Step 2: Submit the 2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by
May 12, 2008.

  • The FAFSA application is required to be apply for all federal loans, included the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan.
  • Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Applying online is safe and secure and will provide online editsto assist you in completing your FAFSA. Both you and at least one parent must apply for a PersonalIdentification Number (PIN) to sign the FAFSA electronically. LMU’s school code is #001234.

Step 3:  If you are a first-time Federal Stafford Loan borrower at LMU, you are required to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Loan Counseling.

Step 4: Provide additional documentation and/or information as requested.

Submit additional documents and/or information requested by the Financial Aid Office, within 5 business days of the date of the request. All requests for additional information will be made via your LMU LION e-mail/PROWL account or for students admitted in summer to the e-mail address on your admissions application.
