Drawing Winners Announced!

On Friday, December 7th, two reference librarians visited Conrad Pruitt’s 8am ENGL 110 class and delivered 3 dozen donuts and 4 Amazon gift certificates to the winners of Library Circuit Training.

During fall semester more than 50 freshmen English classes visited the library for library instruction. Most ENGL 110 classes were taught using Library Circuit Training which involves active learning and group work. After a brief introduction to the library and research process each class was divided into 5 teams. These teams rotated through 5 different stations and had to complete a team worksheet.

The 5 stations were: (1) Choosing Keywords (2) Using the library catalog to find books and media (3) Locating a book and periodical in the stacks (4) Evaluating sources: Scholarly vs. Popular (5) Searching Article Databases.

A reference librarian then graded the team worksheets and selected the best team for the prize drawing. If there was a tie, then both teams were entered into the contest.

The winning team was from Prof. Pruitt’s 8am ENGL 110 class. Each team member received a $20 gift certificate from Amazon. Since Prof. Pruitt’s class was so outstanding (there was a 4-way tie) we also brought donuts on the last day of class.

Congratulations to the winning team!
