Dockweiler Family Collection
THE THOMAS AND DOROTHY LEAVEY CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF LOS ANGELES RESEARCH COLLECTION
DOCKWEILER FAMILY COLLECTION
The Dockweiler Family Collection consists of materials from a Roman Catholic family long distinguished in Los Angeles civic, legal, and social life. Anchoring the holdings are the materials concerning the patriarch of the family, Isidore B.(ernard) Dockweiler (1867-1947), prominent Los Angeles lawyer and civic leader, and personage of the California Democratic Party. Manuscripts, personal and family papers, publications, photographs, scrapbooks, clippings, and ephemera constitute this collection's holdings, providing valuable witness to the social and political history of Los Angeles, and in their broader reach, to California history.
The Dockweiler Collection consists of two separate but related holdings: CSLA-12 and CSLA-13. The provenance of CSLA-12 is known (it came from Frederick C. Dockweiler). That of CSLA-13 is not, resulting in the assigning of a different collection number to this group of materials. The majority of the Collection's materials is found in CSLA-12.
