Savoi Wright, AAAA Scholarship Recipient 2007
Junior Savoi Wright plans to enter the recording arts business and serves as a mentor for incoming students.
Savoi Wright, a junior at LMU, was the beneficiary this spring of a scholarship funded by the African American Alumni Association (AAAA). Wright was awarded $1,000 at the AAAA’s 5th Annual Scholarship Fund Gala on Feb. 24. He was one of 25 students who received grants ranging from $1,000 - $5,000.
Wright is currently a student in the School of Film and Television, with a major in recording arts. “The program is very small and therefore I am able to receive the direct attention needed to develop a very hands-on major,” Wright said.
Among his extracurricular activities, Wright serves as a peer mentor for incoming students. “I believe that experience through trial and error is the most beneficial characteristic that supports excellence in college and life,” Wright explained. “If students who are older and have more experience share their knowledge with those who are new, then the underclassmen will have a greater awareness of what is expected – what the reality is and where they want to go in life.”
Wright plans to attend graduate school and work in international trade.
