- Biography
Ernest Rose became Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in July 2005. Prior to that he was Dean of the School of Education and Human Development and Professor of Education at the State University of New York at Binghamton. From 1994 to 2000 he was Dean of the College of Education and Human Services and Professor of Educational Foundations at Montana State University-Billings. He was Associate Dean of that College from 1992 to 1994. Before holding these positions, he was an Associate Professor of Special Education at Northern Illinois University and Chair of the Special Education faculty. He also served as the Director of Planning and Evaluation for the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory from 1990 to 1992. Rose earned his doctorate in educational administration and master’s degree in special education from the University of Utah. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Rose has been the director of six U.S. Department of Education funded projects in the areas of special education and drug-free schools and communities. He has written numerous articles and book chapters on issues related to children and adults with disabilities and is the co-author of Growing UP: The Transition of Students with Disabilities to Adult Life. Rose has also been a frequent presenter at national education conferences, and has won a citation for his excellence in teaching.
He is married to Linda Rose, who is a counselor in LMU’s Career Development Services Office and they have a daughter, Sunny.
